Even Bible time isn't dull around here

Once I week I try to have a family Bible and game time. I am trying to teach the little ones Romans 8:28 (Love is patient, Love is kind...). We come to the part "it does not envy, it does not boast" and Dylan asks what envy means. I tell him it means jealous. He says, "So it's just more pisticated?" I think he meant sophisticated!!

Later we were talking about the Good Samaritan and the lesson used the word 'neighbor' and Lucas said, "So we shouldn't knock on our neighbor's door and pee on it?" Yeah, where does he come up with this stuff?

Logan and Lexi's Birthday pics

I really like this picture of my mom and Lexi.

My mom gave Lexi her first doll and she just loved it!

My babies are yet another year older. It is so serene to think that they are getting older and bigger. Lexi is beginning to walk and Logan is such a great big brother to her. She just lights up when she sees him! It is so sweet.

My daughter is one year old!!

No matter how many children we have, the awesomeness of God never ceases. I am just amazed at each tiny person and watching them grow to become who God wants them to be. Lexi is an amazing addition to our family and we love her immensely. She brings out such gentleness and joy in each one of the males in our house. She is absolutely adored by each member of our family.

She has started to try to walk recently, but she gets so tickled at herself that she can only make it 2 or 3 steps... then she sits down and gives us the biggest grin you've ever seen. Her whole face lights up when she smiles and the room brightens with it. Logan was walking around with her yesterday holding her hands, gently leading her through the house. Even as young as he is, he wants to protect her and play with her.

When Jeff walks through the door when he has been at work all day, she looks at her daddy with those big blue eyes, puts her hands up and it is as if the two of them are the only ones in the room. She delights in the attention of her daddy and he in hers. I love to watch the two of them together because it is pure love.

I thank God every day for the gift of each and every one of my children. They are such wonderful people that take such joy in each other.

We love you Lexi and Happy Birthday Sweetheart!!

Pictures to follow.

Update on Lexi's allergies

Apparently I had a fit over nothing. We took her to the doctor, who tested her for about 20 things, and she is not allergic to anything. We have since fed her peanut butter and jelly, eggs, milk, you name it... and she is not allergic to anything. Thank God!!

I guess that just goes to show you that no matter how much experience you have, your kids can still make you overreact and make a fool of yourself. ;-)

We think there may be a problem....

Damien texts me yesterday, right as I was leaving work, and sends me this picture:

and says, "Lexi's eye is swollen." Well, Logan had been eating some Reese's Puffs and had then spilled some in the floor. Since she won't eat anything other than what is on the floor, I think she got into them and has shown us that she has a peanut allergy. She is better today but her eyes are still a little red and slightly swollen. I took her to the doctor and he is referring her to a pediatric allergist. We will probably be going to see the one that took care of Lucas when he had such bad eczema problems; this guy offices with the same asthma dr that I saw when I was little.

Apparently peanut allergies can be very serious and they never outgrow them. My boys are done living off of peanut butter and jelly - we have given the peanut butter we do have to the neighbors. When a child has a peanut allergy, the initial reaction is typically mild, like Lexi's eye, but any subsequent reactions can be severe, even causing anaphylaxis. So, no more peanut butter for us!!! I am so feeling so blessed that we figured it out early and that the reaction was not any more serious than it was.

They are too cute!!

I put Logan and Lucas in the bath the other day and was headed in to give Lexi a bath in the kitchen sink. I thought, well duh, I should just put her in here with them. She really enjoyed herself!!

Lookie what I made!!!!

A few days ago Damien started telling me he wanted some tamales. Well after looking around and not being able to find anywhere close that we could buy them, I decided that I would just make tamales. Well Jeff and Daulton just laughed at me and told me that a white girl can't make tamales. Of course being the hard-headed kind of person that I am - that just made me want to prove them wrong. So, I set my mind to making some tamales. To make a long story short, Jeff just came up to me, kissed me and said, "Those were very good, honey."

I'm not one to really like tamales because they seem kinda bland and dry, but these were very good if I do say so myself!!
